Sony DAV-S300.

Zvi Josef (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 21st November 2000, 07:44

Hi!
I`ve had the Sony DAV-S300 system for a couple of months now and I really like it.
However, I heard and read a lot of people who claim the system is not worth its weight in paper.
Can anyone please relate to this argument?
I`m using the system in a 6x4x3 meters living room and it totally feels it with great sound.
Thanks.
(-)Zvi Josef.

First of all haven`t had any experience with this system.

But the comments I heard about is that it hasn`t got enough amplifying power and that it`s an all in one, so if you have one problem than the whole system has to be repared.
That last comment is obviously for all all in one systems and not just for the Sony.

I like the looks of the system and if you`re happy with it, why even bother about what other people think (unless it`s profound of course).

Enjoy!

I just got mine delivered yesterday and i think it is excellent
value. Before buying this i had a Samsung 709 and whilst it was an ok performer there were certain discs that would skip and freeze the picture.
Now i have a better player and complete Dolby 5.1 & DTS sound.
I know most people would say buy seperates but it hardly takes up
any space(important as i have a small room) and it cost just over
500 notes. Handles everything i have played on it and plays Cd`s
really well.
I had a demo of this and the Panasonic version(can`t remember the
name HTC 80 or something) and prefered the Sony which was about 70 quid cheaper.
As you can tell i am very happy with it!!!!!

I have one of these too. But can anyone tell me how to get hold of suitable speaker stands?

Zvi Josef can yoy tell me why I can`t use selfmade cd`s.
Can you give me any information what I have to do that the Sony DAV-S300 will accept selfmade cd`s.
I have about 300 off them,so this is my argument.

Ger - I don`t think DVD players generally take self-made CD`s (in that you mean CD-Writeable discs). There`s not too much you can do about it, as far as I know.

Anyway, I`ve got a Sony DAV-S300, and the sound on it is absolutely brilliant, and unless your a perfectionist and I can`t see any real problems with it.

What I do want to know though is how the picture is on other peoples televisions? Mine isn`t amazing, but it`s okay. Also, are any of your systems Multi-Region? I just wondered because mine is. Cheers!

Recent Sony DVD players don`t play CD-R`s nor CD-RW`s.

With a little exception now and then.
But generally it doesn`t play them.

I`m planning on getting one of these, but could anyone please tell me if you can use the speakers with normal (digital) television, or just with DVD?

Well my speakers are plugged straight into the player and only work when a DVD, CD etc. are being played. Perhaps you could sort it out to play the television through the speakers as well, but then I`m no technological expert, so don`t take my word for it! The sound though, is excellent, and for that alone I`d recommend a Sony DAV S300

Thanx Ben, but does anyone else know for sure if it can be done (play tv through the speakers)? Help would be really appreciated. Thanx.
