Questions about the Scan SC-2500

Kain^ (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 28th February 2002, 03:46

hi i`m looking towards buying a Scan SC-2500 and if it passes these few tests that my current Cyberhome 538 doesn`t pass i`ll be getting one.

Here they come :-

1. Does it decode DTS throught the Anologe 5.1 sockets?
2. Does it convert NTSC into Pal50 or Pal60 (my Cyberhome was pal50 resulting in jerky panning of the camera)

that is (short but sweet).

don`t ask me about DTS 5.1, but i can tell you that it can convert NTSC to PAL60.

the outputs available are:

NTSC
PAL
PAL 60
PAL M
AUTO

I have a question about the scan: why are they so damn popular? Their following seems massive comapared to other players. Any specific reason, or is it just one of those cult things thats got out of hand?

Righty-o i`ll be buying one of these, the only major concern is the DTS as i bought onw of those Packard Bell speaker sets from PCworld and was dissapoined when my player didn`t decode DTS and was told so many times it did.

I Think the appeal is the feature packed box is sooo cheap.

I sent mine back because of the remote and zoom problems but there is supposed to be a fix for all the problems (never got to find out the problem reported with MP3`s further down this board).

Only thing I would say is if you do find a fault with it don`t hold your breath for your money back!! I sent mine back on the 8th (20 days ago) and still no sign of a refund.

Can anyone comment on the fix - did it fix all the concerns mention on this board?

As I always say (to be fair and not one sided) the picture quality was very good.

Hope you enjoy your new 2500 - I`m guessing you will not need ot software upgrade it as it will be done before shipping now.
