Hi I am trying to record onto a DVD from my Sky + box to a Panasonic DMR-EZ28EB.
Some programes / channels work fine other`s such as discovery shed, sky one etc etc
I get a display on the panasonic saying No record It records the Sky guide ie blue screen with white writing OK but as soon as the programe starts the recording stops. I have tried various channels some work some dont I have tried direct record exactly the same. I have updated the software for the panasonic but ittells me I have the latest update . I have EVEN :) gone where very few men go and read the instruction Book !!!!!!!!!. I have emailed Sky asking them but got an automated reply saying they hoped to reply with in 5 working days :(
Any ideas folks becuase at the moment it has me beat.
thanks in advance
Mike

Depends very much on which channels, but quite a few on Sky have copy protection (including Sky One, Channel 4, most of the top Discovery channels as well as the more obvious Sports and Movie channels.)

Your branded Panny recorder will have been programmed to look for that copy protection and hence refuse to record when detected.

Ironically, the cheaper brands from Asia just ignore it and record merrily away, as do older recorder that predate the copy protection system being used by Sky. My 5 year old JVC recorder is oblivious to it, because it never had any firmware that told it to look for it.

I strongly suspect this is your problem even though Sky might not admit to it, as it is a well kept secret.

my daughter had the same prob with her sky setup ans as the previous person mentioned some channels are encrypted , the solution as i did to my daughters setup is to buy a scart lead that has the ant iprotection setup built into it , this was mainly used to copy vhs to vhs removing the macrovision ,but it worked fine on my daughters setup. try here for this lead,

hope this helps
