Right, just saw this fabulous deal on scan.co.uk and am VERY tempted to buy one, has anyone got one and are they any good?

Thanks a lot.

Excellent for DVDs, good for VCD, crappy for MP3 and CD-Audio. Watch out for that damned remote though.

A very good deal, and I am extremely happy with mine.

What is wrong with the MP3 and CD-Audio on them may I ask? And the remote?

The Mp3 on mine is exellent at all bitrates.

Cd Audio -is exellent too -cant complain -i have the sc2000 and the sc2500 and both handle both these audio types well.

Remote control fix will be available shortly by way of f/w upgrade.

Perhaps I should have been clearer. MP3 and CD-Audio are lacking because of the terrible interfaces. I could handle the CD-Audio if it wasn`t for that puke inducing background colour, the sound quality is fine.

The MP3 really makes me angry though. I could have lived without ID3v2, but what I have trouble living with is the lack of ID3 all together and the SC-2500`s inability to even show filenames, and not just full length filenames, this thing can`t even manage cut down 8 character directory / file names. Oh, and the midrange seems to be lacking a bit on playback too, but that might be equaliser settings.

But as I said, excellent otherwise, or it would`t still be in my house. If I wanna play CDs or MP3s I always have my comp which is connected to exactly the same model speakers as the SC-2500.

It`s a good machine with a few quirks. Review soon.

Psychotext - what the hell difference does the *background* colour make when we`re talking audio CD ?!?! What a misleading thing to say !

I have had mine for a month now, and am quite impressed with it. The only problems I have had so far are :
1) Centre channel seems to be missing when using the analogue connectors, seems to be downmixed to the front left/right channels.
2) Occasional remote glitches.
3) Wont access the `O Brother Where Art Thou` R2 Single Disc extras menu - although that may be related to the remote problems.
