` In-line ` 5.1 decoder ?

Bowf (Elite) posted this on Friday, 8th February 2002, 13:58

Here`s my problem...
I`ve got a Tosh 210, which I love.
I want a Goodmans surround system that will do 5.1, but can`t decode it itself.
It needs to receive a 5.1 signal.
The Tosh 210 doesn`t do 5.1....
I don`t need an amp because the Goodmans system amplifies itself.
I just need something little and anonymous, and preferably cheap, that does 5.1 between the DVD and the surround system.
Is there such a thing available ?????

Actually, there used to be separate DD 5.1 decoders (several years ago, when Laserdisc was king and DVD was "the future"), but you don`t really see them now. You could try scouring the free ads for a second hand one.

Bowf,

First of all why the Goodmans system? Have you bought it already?
If not what about the Yamaha TSS - 1.
Details here:-
http://www.yamaha-audio.co.uk/yamaha_pc_home_theatre/yamaha_System/tss-1/tss-1.asp

Available for £140 here:-

Does DD5.1, DTS I assume it will have an optical connection so all you need is a lead and your away.
