How do I copy a DVD with my pc, dubbed from a VHS tape, on a Samsung DVD-VR375 Unit?
I`ve spent hours upon hours copying, editing and titling some old VHS home movies with the Samsung DVD-VR375 unit that I just purchased, and after finalizing the DVD`s, I cannot burn copies of them on my pc. I even downloaded a free program that was supposed to do this, and it doesn`t work. It`s called DVD Shrinker and Decryptor. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Have a wee browse for DVD Shrink , download a trial version of Nero from the main Nero/ Ahead site. Then after a few clicks of a mouse you will have a backup of your home made movies :) I know others with a bit more knowledge than me will use or recommend other utilities but I have used Shrink for years now and have never ended up with a coaster :)

DVDShrink is an excellent program, but more than you should need for copying your own DVDs.
Get imgBurn, its free. Use this to copy your DVD to an iso file on your pc. You can then use imgBurn to write as many copies as you need. Just make sure that you don`t write the iso file itself to the DVD, it needs to be written as the image.
When you start imgBurn it gives you six choices.
Use "Create image file from disc" to copy the DVD onto the pc Hard Drive.
Use "Write image file to disc" to burn your new copy.

I`ve tried copying home recorded DVDs with DVDShrink, and it`s flummoxed by the file structure, which it reports back as invalid. The simplest way to copy home recorded DVDs is open the disc in windows explorer as a standard drive, copy the contents to a hard drive folder (takes about 15 mins), then use imgBurn to burn a DVD from the hard drive (another 15 mins).

If they are recorded in "VR" mode then most programs stutter with them.
Use a blank -R or +R disc and finalise it, that becomes the master disc.
Insert master into PC and use shrink to "open disc"
once shrink is finished reading the disc, hit "backup" or "backup disc"
It then pops up a dialog to save to hard disk folder and create Video TS and Audio TS folders or burn to disc.
I always do it to hard drive then open Nero, Create DVD, Video DVD then drag the Video TS folder into the main window with the left mouse button.
Hit burn
Eject disc and decide to do it again or not.
If it`s different to that, then what Mark sed above ;)

I have never played with discs from a stand-alone recorder, so I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if iso imaging wasn`t the easiest and quickest solution. Have any of you guys with stand-alone recorders tried that?

Yes I read in the Samsung Manual about the VR and Video Mode. Tell me, do you know what the advantage or differences are with either of those? How is video different from VR? Thanks!
