NEED HELP PLEASE!!!! with Packard Bell 5800 surround set up

Ok, finally got my surround sound system, connect it to my kiiro 838d and..... no sound from the centre speaker. I exchange the `faulty` one for a new one, and BAM, same problem. I`ve tried using the other speakers with the centre output, still no sound. I also tried putting the centre OUTPUT from my dvd player into the front INPUT on the sub/amp, and lo-when I run my players sound test, sound comes out of the `centre` speaker! I did these tests with both the original and the exhanged surround system. Has anybody got any ideas as to why this might be? It seems strange to have the same problem with 2 completely different surround sets (one purchased through mail-order pcworld, t`other exchanged from a store). It also seems strange to get the centre output only when the cable is connected to the front inputs. Is it my dvd player? Is there some trick I`m missing, new as I am to the delights of 5.1 sound? I`d like to avoid returning anything if I can. Please help!!! Cheers

have you made sure that the centre speaker is switched on via your remote control general setup?

ive bought 1 of these for my pc i have a soundblaster 11024 live scard it has digital out does anyone know wether i can have 5.1 sound from this i have all speakers on at the mo but the centre wont work

Yep, sure have. All the speakers, and the sub, are switched on via the on-screen setup. Which is one of the reasons why I`m confused! Any other ideas?

Micky, I`ve just read your posting and I`m beginning to wonder, as you seem to have a similar problem to myself, whether or not there is a problem with the Packard Bell 5800? Or whether there have been a number of dodgy batches distributed in this country....

bill, lewie again i have the same set up but no problems! You say you linked it to the front input on the sub, i have no front inputs on mine! I just linked them up and hey presto.i take it your getting no sound speech then! Youve obviously switched the downmix to off. sorry cant help. lewie

i have linked these speakers to my dvd player which has a built in decoder works ace all speakers work my souncard on my pc does has digital out also 2 outputs for more speakers but i only get 4 speakers on soundcard about 2 years old soudblaster 1024 live but i cant find exact model on there web site for £60 you cant go wrong with these speakers
