Page 1 of Dansai Questions. Please help?

Hi,

I`ll start by saying that I`m visually impaired, so naturally find it hard to traverse menu systems.

I know that the Dansai will play RCE discs with the hack, but will I have to select the region of the RCE disc before I play it? Even if I choose all regions from the options?

Secondly,

If I could trouble you with one more question about the Dansai. Apparently their is a button on the remote called `language` I don`t think this is sub titles as their`s a dedicated button for this. Is this button `language` for cycling through audio tracks? On the Kiiro, the same button is marked track. This is important for me as some DVD discs have Audio description tracks for the blind, like Chicken Run, East is East or Moulin rouge.

If it`s the cast that the language button on the Dansai supports language switching with audio tracks like the Track button on the Kiiro, I`ll get one on Saturday.-----Original Message-----

Once you`ve used the hack to select all regions, that`s it. That selection is retained even if the machine is unplugged (bought one for my son, set it up and tested it out about 2 weeks before his birthday, then re-boxed it for him to open; it had retained the all regions setting).

Don`t know anything about the language option, but I`ll have a look tonight and post.

There are many different firmware versions of this player. But themain hack remains the same. On mine you only need set the player to BYPASS for playback of an RCE disc. On my friends player she has to set the player to R1 to watch A Knights Tale (RCE). If it helps she bought hers a few weeks before me, making mine a newer firmware.

Typically there`s nothing at all in the instructions about the Language button on the remote. It`s certainly not the subtitle control, but I can`t work out what it`s for. I don`t have any of the DVDs you list as having special audio tracks.

LANGUAGE BUTTON.

Watched STAR TREK tonight and that has the option to change the voices of the characters into 3 spoken languages. Default was English
but you could also select German and Czech. It was very funny watching Kirk talking in Czech.........sounded nothing like him but its a good idea.
Not all DVD discs support it and some DVD players dont call the button Language but instead mark it as AUDIO.
