at the momment i have a samsung 511 dvd player and a matsui TV

i am about to buy a TOSHIBA 28Z13B

on my matsui i have noticed a little movment in the picture (some times it keep moning up and down olny a little bit) on some of my region 1 DVD i think it is because my tv now does not like PAL 60Hz.

the question is will pal 60Hz work on a tv that will take NTSC???
like the TOSHIBA 28Z13B??

daniel

p.s i have gone in to the set up and found some thing called qaui-pal or some thing when i change it to off the pic stays still but when the pic moves quick it stick and plays??

When Quasi-PAL is ON you get PAL 60Hz output from NTSC discs, when it`s OFF you get PAL 50Hz converted output. The "sticking" is an unfortunate side effect of the 50Hz conversion.

Anyway, virtually all UK TVs that accept NTSC can also accept PAL 60Hz. There are a tiny few (though not any current models, to my knowledge) which don`t.

This is not an issue if you use RGB SCART anyway, since RGB bypasses the whole PAL/NTSC colour thing - the distinction between PAL 60Hz and NTSC only applies to composite and S-Video connections.

I would in all honesty get a TV that takes pure NTSC and don`t worry too much about the Quasi pal especially as you seem to be using sources from Region one..nearly all latest TV have multi standard so there should not be a problem hooking up your DVD to your TV and getting a solid picture...

Again, as I said, the distinction between PAL 60Hz and "Pure" NTSC does not apply if you use a RGB SCART connection. Anyway, the UK Samsung 511 is not capable of outputting "pure" NTSC.
