I`m thinking of buying a budget player and along with things like the Scan 2000 etc the Tosh 100E is on my list - does nayone know if it can be made to be multi-region, if so how?

I`ve got one, and it`s a nice machine. They don`t have a handset hack, so they either have to be chipped or bought pre-modded from someone like DVD Magic or Techtronics.

Tectronics have them for just under £200 (a bugger as I payed £230 for mine about 2 months ago). This is becuse they don`t automatically handle RCE discs (but there is a way around it). Techtronics also offer a free RCE upgrade when it`s available.

I`ve had no problems playing R1, R2, or R4 discs so far. Picture and sound are both good, nice range of trick play options, and you can get `em in either silver or black. Don`t do MP3 or anything fancy, but they are quality machines. Oh, they only output NTSC as PAL60, so be wary if you have an older TV.

I`m also thinking of getting this machine from Tectronics...how did you find their service? Do you think it`s worth waiting until they develop their RCE cancelling chip?

By the way, I`ve heard that the picture on the Tosh 100 is superb - better than most other makes even twice as expensive - is this true?

I have had the Tosh from Richer sounds and found it to be an excellent machine..BUT yes there is a but.. i took it back ang got a refund cos it is allregion but cant handle the RCE problem without messing around with the remote, and then you only get the film no extras :( Have since bought a LG 3500e from Tectronics, and i am very happy with Picture, sound MP3 and looks. I placed my order on the Mon by switch and got my player on Friday same week.

I`ve got a Tosh SD100 & it`s ace. The picture really is fantastic for a £200 or thereabouts machine. I was lucky enough to get a multi-region model from a local High Street store for £179.99 - complete bargain. Not tried any other regions disks yet (some on order) and am not bothered about RCE if middle of the road crap like The Patriot are the only affected titles.

I got a Toshiba SD100E for £150. I haven`t had any problems as yet but I want to play region 1 DVD`s on it.

I saw a code on a forum saying press menu, 6,1,0,6,9,5 and then play

Then region 1 should appear on the screen. I haven`t got a region 1 DVD at the moment so if anyone tries it please let me know the outcome. Otherwise i`m going to have to send it to be chipped and there goes my warranty
