samacor (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 3rd November 2000, 19:18

Are there any other owners of a Lecson 900 ?? There seems to be so little information about this player.

Does this player have a macro hack.... ??

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have had my Lecson for a fortnight now and havent found a macrovision hack although i read somewhere the innards are the same as a wharfedale, dont know if anyone can clarify this.Only codes i know are the region free one and also the region specific ones.To make machine region one only ,push open/close button, then zoom, A to B,then 1 1 1 1 1.As the first four ones are pressed asterisks appear on screen, at the fifth press a one appears on screen.Hey presto a region one only machine. To make it region two only do as above but use 1 1 1 1 2.
Hope we can find a macro hack now

I`ve just acquired the Lecson and have to say, I`m very impressed, especially as getting it from Debenhams gives you an automatic two year warranty :-)

Twin scarts, one RGB, separate S-Video socket, two composite video out, built in DD & DTS decoder and 5.1 outputs, stereo ots and Coax and Optical digital outs. According to the box it is also software upgradable for future deveopments.

I have been able to compare it to both my Schneider 810 and LG2330 players. The picture is sharper, clearer and more detailed than the Schneider and marginally better than the LG. The sound via the coax SPDIF output is also very good, especially the bass which is a definite improvement over both the other two. It plays CD-Rs, CD-RWs and VCDs, but I haven`t tried finding a macrovision hack yet.

The all region hack is the same as the Wharfedale 750S, the Tesco Online one, not the Tesco Store one (see the Region Hacks forum), but I found that to set a specific region I only had to open the drawer then press 11111 to change it Region 1. No need even to press any other keys.

It is a bit bulky, and the drawer is above the display window which can block the IR window, but that`s a minor problem. The layout of the remote is pretty awful and the colour is terrible, but it is no worse to operate that many others I have seen. At least the buttons are responsive. The only real problem I`ve encountered is that pressing the play button on the remote turns one of my satellite receivers on or off !!!!!!!
