Please help I am trying to decide between the following 3 players LG 4950, Sony DVPNS300 and Toshiba SD210E. The Toshiba seems to get all the awards so seems the best choice.
I want a multi region one, should i get it chipped properly or will remote hacks work? Can anyone also tell me if these will play the RCE Disks.
Lastly which are good companies to buy chipped players from, as prices seem to vary massively.
Thanks
You can get the Toshiba SD210E Multi-Region from Richer Sounds for £199.95, www.richersounds.co.uk, don`t know if it`s any help like..
The Toshiba seems to be the obvilous choice but I`d go for the LG. The LG is easily hacked (from the supplied remote) to play any region disc. One quirk is that if you set the machine to R1 it will play R2 discs as well !!.So this means in theory that it will play RCE discs as the machine is now a region 1 not a multiregion !.
The only problem with chipping a machine is that it invalidates your warranty unless the company doing the chipping offers a replacement warranty
If the LG 4950 is anything like the older 3350, it`s a real corker. Plays everything inc MP3s and VCDs, remote hackable. Picture and sound quality are top too. Combined with an onboard DD decoder, you couldn`t ask for more for the money.
Go for the LG...
A short addition.
From what i have read sooo many times is go with the tosh. Overall quality is above the LG and u have component video out if u upgrade your tv in the future, you will have quite simply the best picture quality available.

Is it worth pointing out that there`s a review for the LG4950 in the hardware reviews section ?!
