Best HIFI and Surround Sound

:/ Help. I have a good but not exceptional Hifi set up with Sound Surround for Movies.7 speaker set up. My Lounge is carpeted but I`m thinking of laying down laminated flooring. Can any of you Audophiles out there tell me if the Sound is going to to be better if I stick to carpet or will it make a big difference if I had wooden flooring.Thanks.Whats your advice.

I am no expert but I would have thought that carpet would abosrb sound wheras hard flooring would reflect sound. However as your speakers are most likely up at listening height and directional most sound would be reflecting around the walls of your room. I suppose carpet may be better as any stray sound beams are absorbed and don`t mess with the sound field.

I may be talking complete tosh.

I would also edit the title of this thread so that it is a bit clearer what you are asking about.

Cheers

As a rule, reflection bad, adsorption good.

I recommend Big Hair!

Absorption and diffusion in one handy portably unit.
