Panasonic DMRES10 - a couple of questions

Axe-man (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 30th May 2006, 00:08

Thinking about retiring my (trusty!) Philips. The Panny looks very good value (and I can still use my +R discs).

Could someone help me with some answers to questions.

1. I find the 2.5 hours recording on the Philips useful. The Panny recording modes go from 2 hours to 4 hours, but an I right that Flexible Recording enables you to record say a 2hrs 10min film without having to use the 4 hour mode?

2. Widescreen recording. The manual says it records to 4:3, but I think an earlier post said it just misses out the widescreen flag, but it will record widescreen OK, but you may have to set the TV manually to W/S. Correct?

3. Definitely RGB input? Also will it allow an RGB signal to pass through when in standby?

Thanks.

1 yes .... the flexible recording will allow you to record exactly as you asked, but ive never used it that i can remember.

2 yes.... to tell you the truth i had never noticed that in the manual, ive recorded loads of programmes/ films etc in widescreen.

3 yes.... i had my xbox running through the DMRE S10 in RGB, with no problem.

hope this helps :D

i`m pretty sure you`re right - i think it does have the flag when you use a dvd-ram disc though.
