My aunt has a 17" Acer TFT, which seems fine. Does have a habit of auto-adjusting itself all the time when booting, but it settles down when it gets to Windows.

Looking at you right now via one. No problems whatsoever. It does autoadjust when you boot up and change screen size (playing games etc) as mentioned, but it`s sorted itself out before you actually want to do anything.
Just make sure you snap the set into the base securely. I was trying to deal with a wobbly monitor for a month before I got rough..

I have Acer Al 1717 and have not noticed this screen size change, although I don`t play games.Argos had the best price when got mine as I was able to buy 10% discount vouchers with my credit card points.

i am now on my third acer 17" monitor.i have had the same problem with all three,and that is they are too bright,even with contrast and brightness set to zero they are still too bright , i have now resorted to using the graphics own settings in windows to reduce the brightness to a level that i am comfortable with.i returned the first two to amazon who told me to contact acer if i still had problems with the third. i contacted acer and they admitted there was a fault with the monitors and they wanted me to return the monitor to them, i asked abiout a swap out replacement but they said they did not do this .and my monitor would be away for 10-14 days.they reckoned this was a pretty fast turnaround.and they wouldnt lend me a monitor in the meantime.so i declined their offer and just reduced all the settings in windows. wont be buying another acer monitor.

Had a 15" bought from Argos (came with a three year warranty) had it for 2 years and 9 months - then kept losing image - took it back to Argos and they exchanged it for a 19" ACER as they didn`t stock the 15" anymore - and what was even better was that I also got £60.00 back in vouchers as the 19" was cheaper than the original purchase price of the 15".
