Hello all,
I have just got the new Philips DVDR-1000 in the shop and am having a quick play about. 1st imprestions? Very good. Easy to set up and use and the picture looks fine on my 1st play about.
Just thought I`d let you know.
All the best,
Andrew.
Andrew,
Is this the format that is compatible with ALL drives? And isn`t it £1300? And won`t it be £200 in 12 months time? ;-)
LJ
Hello there, I only got it yesterday so I am still learning about it. But this is my understanding of it. Yes. It plays back on a normal DVD video player and on my DVD ROM drive It will even play on a DVD-RW (panasonic).
It is £1300 and yes the price will come down in time as more players are released as it did with DVD video, CD, PC, I could go on. On the other hand I can see there being some more expensive higher end products as with DVD video,..........
The DVD+RW discs are £20 at the moment but once again these will come down as with CD-R and CD-RW.
All in all it looks as if video has had it`s day.
DVD+RW is here and it works.
All the best,
Andrew.

Andrew are you rich? or mad or both!
None of the above, he`s got it in his shop. He`s hoping that someone rich or mad or both is going to walk in off the street and buy it. But not before he`s backed up his entire DVD collection :-)
Dave
back up? when the discs are £20 a throw? Cheaper to buy another copy of each!!!
Yes, but think of the `cache` (how DO you put acute accents on words??) involved when you can show your mates `my back-up dvd` of Terminator!
;-)
LJ
PS I`m not rich enough to afford things like `cache`!
RichardH, At the moment you are right (I was just teasing, Andrew), but once the prices drop it will become realistic and a real headache for the DVD industry.
Dave
ctrl+alt+e gives you é

caché
For accented characters, hold down ALT then type three digit code (é=130) using keypad then release ALT
Think accented characters start at ALT 128 and go up to 165.
