Why does my DD amp have video inputs
I`m not a total numpty (really!) but have no idea why my surrounds amp (Yammy E-800) has 2 s-video inputs amongst others.
What`s it all about?
RE: Why does my DD amp have video inputs
Well your "amp" is what you call is "A/V Reciever", which means aswell accepting audio signals it will accept video signals, in your case "S-Video".
You said your "amp" has S-Video inputs, so it will or should have an S-Video output, So you can connect your DVD players S-Video output to the S-Video input on your Receiver, Then you should connect the S-Video output from your Reciever to the S-Video input on your TV (Thats if it has one, not that many do), if it doe`snt you can buy an S-Video to Scart lead, don`t buy a cheap one though, spend at least £15 on a decent (Gold plated) one.
That should be able to help you!.
Yeah, and exactly what "demon55b" said.

RE: Why does my DD amp have video inputs
As i see it I think the only reason The amp has S video inputs / outputs is if you have more than one source which you would need to use the S video connection. The TV`s which have an S video connection usually only have one so if for example you had Two DVD players which you wanted to use the S Video Connection on both, you would connect these both to the Amp. If you didnt do this you would have to keep dissconnecting one plug from the TV to put the other in. Seeing as the Players are connected to the Amp and an output is going to the TV (AKA Monitor Out) whenever you switch the sound for the appropriate DVD player, the Picture also changes for that particular source.
Hope That hasnt come out too complicated!

Cheers demon that makes sense - I never saw the point in running a cable into the amp just to run it back out again. Don`t have 2 DVDs so I`m not missing out on anything then....!

For the record it`s called `s-video switching`. If you have several s-video compatible sources it`s extremely useful.
