SKY`S NEW HD ONLY CHANNEL LISTS........Anyone got any info :) ta :)

MADTheOgster (Elite Donator) posted this on Friday, 24th February 2006, 18:25

i recently noticed sky haigh def channels :) does anyone know the ins & out s of the service ? obviously my hardware + tv would need to be upgraded/swapped out, but is ther an extra subscription charge etc ? also, is i pheasable to record in high def (in native hi-def resolution without dropdown) i know the current generation of set top boxes won`t handle hi-def,,,,,

but, & this is the techi part, if a built (another,,, lol. long story) media pc for use on the new hd tv, would taht be able to handle realtime hi-def recording with the apropriate digital capture card ? i`ll be putting 1.5 terabytes of hard disc space in it so storage wouldn`t be an issue, but can the capture be done well enough to do the source justice ?

thanks in advance :)

They are "placeholders" in the EPG.
They are not actual HD streams showing real content.

Did they have a phone number at the bottom? A guy at work was telling me he has seen them for a while now just while flicking through channel, so phoned the phone line on the bottom of the screen, about how to register, and was told that he shouldn`t be able to see the channels! He was told to register his interest via the website, but he has already done that, but not received any info.

the sky guide that arrived today had a phone number in it giving a phone number for anyone wanting info on the hd services & launch info (which means they don`t know, but if loads of interest is generated they might start rolling it out ;) )

Other than a small fee of around £400 for an HD Sky+ box (:¦ (:¦ you will still have to pay £10 every month on top of any current subscription to view the HD broadcasts.

No idea on the tech side m8, bit of a luddite :D. To such an extent that I do not own a mobile phone and see them and the users as tools/pawns of the devil :D
