Asda special Rowa DVD-280

Hello all. Just got myself a brand spanking new Rowa from Asda.
After setting it up - correctly, hopefully, we settleed down to watch a borrowed copy, for test purposes, of Arlington Road. During playback the movie froze twice. On about six occasions - hope this reads right - the picture kept going pixally. Also, it seemed to leave red shadows in places, and when a character was by a bright light, this light seemed to overwhelm their faces. My mate says his disk is okay, so I was wondering if anyone else with this player has had any similar problems. Don`t want to take it back this early in the game in case it is just a question of getting tight settins. Have got it Scart RGB conected. Have tried the menu setting in``Cinematic`` and ``Animation`` no improvement. Do you think this machine is a good purchase? Didn`t want to spend too much at this stage. Any feedback on this would be grearfully recieved.

The Rowa has a pioneer main board although this gives a good picture quality (for the price) I found it to be very sensative to small scratches on the disc and had similar problems to those you have encountered.(being a pioneer it also means no region hacks) I took mine back and purchased an alba 104 from argos instead, due to the feed back form other threads on this site, and I`ve had no problems at all so far.

Thanks Reders. After your reply I thought it best to start all over again and have since returned the player to Asda.
