I have just got the new region 2 Toshiba 210e if anyone is toying with a purchase.

It is superb. I upgraded from a Samsung 511. Whilst the tosh can still be considered budget, the performance is high end.

The sound and picture quality are outstanding. Different class.

Operation is sublime and well thought out. I know this is brief but its simple enough. Its s**t hot.

By the way I got it at John Lewis who price match internet shopping, so I managed to knock em down from £230.00 to £190.00. Take an Internet print out along. ( thanks to Andy Balfour )

cheers,

Pete.

mines arriving this week hopfully.

For anyone reading this thread and considering this player bear in mind the player from John Lewis is not multiregion, you can get a multiregion version from Richer Sounds and many other places for an extra £9 which in my opinion is worth it, as to upgrade later will cost you much much more than that. - £199 at RS using whathifi mag

fyi: i ordered mine for £224 from techtronics which is not only multiregion but also has macrovision disabled.

The reviews for the sony players that i saw were all pants. Sony dvd players dont seem to be that highly rated from what i could see, hence why i went for this new 210e from toshiba which seemed to get great reviews from the mags and also from people that already own it.

Do any of you owners consider the drive noisy besides Schnozzer (see his posting) as this was mentioned in a review I read. I`ve been trying to get one from Richer Sounds as their extended guarantee is good and cheap but so far no stock.

Mxm - Depends on what you mean by a noisy drive. It makes a fair amount of noise when switching between menu`s and stuff, when it`s obviously accessing different parts of the disc, but it`s quieter than my old LG3350 when it`s actually playing.
It can hardly be described as noisy though, and compared with it`s plus points it`s a tiny complaint.
You know how some people are though. They`d get Britney Spears home and complain that she snored a bit afterwards....

Ho ho funny man.

DVD review is subjective, but if all you can offer is tired scarcasm why not stay at home Bear.

Fair point on the Sony machines but not every one wants one. They are like Pentium and coca cola. Brand names that people go for without considering other alternatives really.

Pete.
