Thinking of buying a Panasonic DMR EH50
Run up to Christmas, loads of good stuff on TV hopefuly, the current VCR sometimes record funny, so I`m thinking of getting the Panasonic DMR EH50 this evening, from Richer Sounds £280.
Seems good, any reasons why not?
Cheers

RE: Thinking of buying a Panasonic DMR EH50
Looking at the specs the main thing missing is a Freeview tuner, I wouldn`t buy any DVD-Recorder without Freeview, however if you can live without freeview & also are prepared to sell at a much cheaper price in the future then everything else is good.

It`s quite a lot more for the freeview PANA-DMREH60, £450, I have NTL anyway so not that fussed.
that does have a 200gb rather than 80gb hard drive also though.
Thanks anyway.

snowey Got one myself a couple of months back, from same place, IMO, BRILL,
I find that 40gb is more than enougth for what I need, :) :)

I`ve got the EH60D - it`s a fantastic piece of kit.
The convenience and spped of programming via the freeview programme guide is great.
Picture quality on top two settings (XP & SP) are indistinguishable from the Freeview broadcast.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

I`ve not had chance to play with it yet, but I bought it :)
After all the praise Panasonic gets round these parts, couldn`t resist.
Trying to work out if it`s worth buying some DVD-RAMs or DVD-RWs or not.
I`m thinking I`ll just used the HD for regular TV shows, or DVD-Rs if it`s a film.
Richer Soudns priced match no problem. A few online shops were doing if for 168inc p&p, ( I took print outs of the pages) so they sold it to me for that once they had checked on line ws in stock.

I record everything to HDD. Once I`ve recorded to DVD - and that wasn`t `live` - that was dubbing from HDD.

RE: Thinking of buying a Panasonic DMR EH50
I`ve had time to play now, and I`m v happy with my purchase :)
Cheers to everyone on the forums who has recommended Panasonic. I haven`t used any other make of dvd/hdd recorder but this is so easy to use, pictures of the remote, what button to press on screen, are just like in manuals for video games, telling you what button to press :)
So far I`ve just used SP mode to record to the hdd, but that has been great over teh weekend recording West Wing, Jools Holland, Bodies, and a few other bits and bobs.
Bodies I recorded off BBC2 via the aerial, rather than scart to see what it was like, and I now think I should have made the switch to digital recorder years ago, as the quality of that was really good. Well I mean VHS tape always looked good enough, but now I realise it wasn`t!
And hard drive is definitely great, I wasn`t sure if it was worth the extra money to not have to get off the sofa to change discs, but I now see it is more useful than that, not having to worry if there`s enough room to record Fri night, and Sat nights TV :).
So cheers to everyone in this thread, and the other threads recommending hard drive recorders, and Panasonic recorders. It`s v nice to spend £265, and be more than happy with the results :)
