Hi Which of these DVD players should I get the Eclipse 595 or 695? I want a DVD player that can play dvd`s cdr mp3`s and cd`s. Does the eclipse 595 have an S-Video out put as someone has told me it hasn’t yet the richer sounds website says it has? If so what’s the difference between the two models apart from £60? Cheers

The 595 has got an S-Video out. My 595 has recently started playing up after an hour or so playing. I`ve got a feeling it`s over-heating. The picture darkens and there are lines and the colours go wierd. If I turn it off and leave it for a while the picture goes back to normal. I got it from Richer Sounds. They have just tried to repair it but on getting back from the store and trying it the fault still seems to be there. So I`m taking it back for a refund. It`s a shame because it has a great picture and plays every disk I`ve tried even the problem one`s everybody posts about. It also seems to be macrovision free. I don`t know if any other owners have had this prob. I did a post but no-one replied. Perhaps you should go for the 695.

HI, I have recently purchased the Eclipse 695 from RicherSounds and can`t fault it. It plays my MP3 cdr`s, VCD`s, Audios and DVDs fine. The only gripe I have with it, is the lack of a decent GUI for selecting or programming the mp3`s you want to play. Has a nice Graphic Equalizer built in too Haven`t tried any CD-RW`s on it yet, don`t know if its macrovision free
But Richer give a 14 day return guarantee, that gives you time to try it.
I want an Eclipse 695!

These machines seem to be selling pretty fast where I am. I went into my nearest Richer Sounds store on Saturday asking for an Eclipse 695. I was told that they weren`t really selling a lot till that Saturday when they compleately sold out! Even their display model had gone!

...Richer Sounds ordered some more and within a week I managed to get one (picked one up two days ago). To my surprise it seems to be like an update of the Ariston-2000 DVD player (which I owned previously), as it has the same menu system. The look of the machine is also similar. Being similar to the Ariston the hack also works. It`s is multi-regional and you can disable macrovision.
Open the disc tray and press 7, 4, Enter. Change the regional setting to 13 to play all regions. On the second screen change the macrovision number to 0. Unfortunately this resets after you switch the machine off.
