RE: home networking help, any comments appreciated!

I am assuming your ADSL modem is USB. are you using a cross over cable to connect your client pc to the modem pc?? the best way of using broadband is to buy a router, like a linksys (usb wan, 4 port rj45 LAN) your adsl modem will plug into the WAN port then you have 4 LAN ports available for PCs. The router has a built in firewall too.

RE: Akura ADV14S DVD player £37.49 at Kwiksave

HI All

I bought one of these on wednesday 13th aug and its played a region 1 out of the box. no probs with the DVD-r or VCD picked the dolby up great and very clear picture. I like the menu for mp3 disks. no LED/LCD readout on the unit itself. Came with scart lead and set of phono leads in the box. I only gave it a short test on each disk but it played DVDs that my eclipse dosen`t want to know. I don`t think its a bad buy at £37.49, all I need now is a 15m s-vhs cable now to get it running properly on the projector

RE: Ann recommendations for decent budget Projector

Hi Mac

I am one of those Panny AE100 owners, I recently bought one. When I put on my 1st film I just though "WOW!" I use it in low power setting, very little difference to the output, but makes a BIG difference to lamp life. It is quoted as 5000hr lamp life in low power, but only 2000hr in high.

Sound and vision have been selling them at £799. I was well pi**ed, I paid £899 just a couple of days earlier.

http://www.soundandvision.uk.com

if you want to read up further http://www.avforums.com have lots if info on the Panny ptae100

Hope that helps

RE: Jungle.com - a sorry experience

Hi Paul

Oh you got me on a right soap box now, I ordered a LCD flat panel from this sorry retailer, on the 31st Oct, I checked on order tracking and it said dispatch 9/11/01, I wasnt too happy, and after waiting 1hour 50 mins on the phone to customer service (thats a laugh) Oh and not getting to talk to anyone in all that time, I faxed their HQ, I tried emailing them to cancel the order, which was increasing the dispatch date each day, (and still is last time I checked).

I got excuses like "We cant cancel at this stage, just refuse delivery" crap, they hadn`t dispatched the item but couldn`t cancel. I emailed Which web trader too, I advise you to do the same, they weren`t too happy but are "working with Jungle". I got a phone call from the HQ the next day, full of apologise "we are implimenting new systems blah blah!!" We will get this sent out to you today, I told them to cancel it I didnt want anything from them, "Fine its cancelled as of now" Phone went dead very quickly lol. This situation with Jungle is not acceptable, I even posted a review slagging em off goodstyle but it never went up on the board. Unbiased customer reviews there then.

I am sorry to rant on but they really p**sed me off with the total lack of CS.

I bought the same item from Ebuyer which cost me 10 pence more than Jungle but inc Next day delivery.

RE: DVD swap

I believe that Electronic Boutique offer a trade in and they will take it off games too

RE: Techtronics?

I Ordered 2 ixos cables from this excuse of a company, after 10 days and still no cables I cancelled the order, finally getting my money back nearly 2 months after I ordered. I would NOT order from this outfit ever again if they were selling ixos cables at £1 a dozen. I`d never get em anyway!!!

RE: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - Deluxe Edition 2 Disc Set - Advice Please!

It dosen`t look that attractive when they add $27.90 for shipping to UK. I was ordering it until my $19.99 suddenly went upto $47.89

Not that much of a bargain when shipping costs more than the item you`re buying

PS well I don`t think it is..!!!

RE: All in one remotes?

Hi Mos,

I am using the "One For All 6" URC-7560. I couldn`t find a code for my Eclipse 695, so I used the learning function on the OFA6. Works fine on the DVD player now

RE: DVD players that support SVCD, VCD, MP3, CDR, CDRW, also multi region and macrovision free.

Hi Snake

I have the Eclipse 695 Multi Region out of the box, it does all that you want it to do and a little more.
The macro disable is done via remote hack and has to be done each time you power it off.

cost was £179.99 from Richer Sounds

RE: Eclipse DVD-695 playing mp3 disks?

Hi Jambo0

I had a problem with a couple of my mp3 cd`s, 1st one had winamp.exe on it. Player refused to recognise it, and the other had a couple of bad mp3`s files on it. re burnt them both and played them without a problem. I assume you are closing the disks?? It may work if you close the session but I ain`t tried that, so not sure if it works.

As for the format; I think I read somewhere that the mp3 decoders in these machines like 96kbits, but alot of mine are in 128kbit and they played fine.

Hope that helps

RE: OZ SITES - Which is best?

I am still in the process of trying to get my card validated with www.fbo.com. Thought I would try them after seeing the post, but I am having second thoughts about using this company again.

They said if my card didn`t validate they would do it their side, I shudder to think what would happen if I decided to order using a different card, all this validation stuff AGAIN!!!!

By the time I get my DVD (if at all) it will be close on 2 weeks after the initial order.

RE: TV. Weird looking pictures. Bad colour ?????

Hi BennyBoy

I have just bought (11/8/01) a Panasonic TX-28DK2 Dolby Pro logic, bloody Tozzin!!! telly.

Local Comet were matching Currys 10% off so I got it for £494 instead of the £549

Its got 2 scarts and S-VHS inputs, and its has 6 speakers too.

RE: Help Eclipse 595 or 695 which should i buy?

HI,
I have recently purchased the Eclipse 695 from RicherSounds and can`t fault it. It plays my MP3 cdr`s, VCD`s, Audios and DVDs fine. The only gripe I have with it, is the lack of a decent GUI for selecting or programming the mp3`s you want to play.
Has a nice Graphic Equalizer built in too
Haven`t tried any CD-RW`s on it yet, don`t know if its macrovision free

But Richer give a 14 day return guarantee, that gives you time to try it.
