YELO 800-A FEW ?s

pubs29782 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 8th October 2000, 21:41

1.I ordered the player LAST WEEK from www.interdvd.co.uk and it said it had sold out of its first batch but was getting a new batch on the 23rd October. does this mean that i`m GUARANTEED to get a player on this date as there`s no mention of the 2nd batch being sold out yet on the website??
2.Is there a possibility the SUBTITLES bug or any other bug could be fixed by the time i get my player?
3.Is it possible to convert MPEG-1 files to a VCD-type file in order that they can be played on my Yelo 800 player?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! :-)
(4)(Is it just me or has the napster forum been inaccessible during the past few days?!)

I phoned yelo directley and they told me that companys that have already received there first batch wont get any more until at least november. i have just orderd one from www.mortekdirect.co.uk who say there first batch arrives on monday the 9th and that i will get mine tuesday the 10th of october well we will see there price deliverd is £194 so they are a bit cheaper to. regards your mpeg1 files i used avi to vcd to convert my avi files to make them vcd compliant then burn them with win on cd 3.6 power edition or easy cd deluxe and they work fine in any player that supports vcd like my phillips 710 most players to my knowledge support vcd. But your mpeg 1 files must be vcd compliant otherwise your burn programmes reject the files and wont burn them. avi to vcd makes them vcd compliant.win on cd 3.6 will convert them also but this is a lengthy process. Good luck daz.

Dont Buy The Yelo 800 - The Picture Is Poor

Artifacts on all the DVDs I`ve tried. See the Yelo Subtitles thread for more details. Believe me, the subtitles problem is nothing compared to the rest.

A month ago I ordered the Apex/VDDV 600A player from www.ionark.com to be told there were none in stock so i cancelled my order a few weeks later.Last week i ordered the Yelo 800 only to hear about numerous problems with the player so i`m going to cancel my order for this player tomorrow!! WILL I EVER FIND A GOOD DVD PLAYER!!??
I need one that:
-Plays VCD,SVCD & MP3(although not completely necessary as VCD OR SVCD)
-multi-region
-available in UK

I know the feeling all too well.

I think a trip up to Tottenham-Court Road (London) to check out video playback is the only viable solution.
I`ve had my fill with these mail-order/internet firms. I`m beginning to think they are just reject warehouses.

I will probably try out an Azuda/Mico first if I can find one in the shops.
I will contact Yelo direct tomorrow to see if they can send me a good mpeg board of known quality as a swap-out.
If not, its back to square one. A whole month wasted!

WILL I GET ONE BEFORE XMAS? Naaahhhhhhhhhh

It says on www.unbeatable.co.uk site they have new stock of the Mico for immediate dispatch

Mico`s great, just needs to come with a long stick ( no standby on remote?)

Does the MP3 recognise Joliet (long filename) discs. I dont need to see the filename, just need to know the discs will play without need for converting them all!

Thanx

BRILEY/MICO ROCKS

Not sure, but I think it can play these kind of discs. Used to play anything I threw at it. But I hated the hoover/grating sound mine made, but no-one else has had this trouble (Unlucky buggar I am, got two of the b*stards)

No doubt BRILEY will confirm it for you.
