Another Nero question

bigtimefred (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 19th October 2005, 10:50

I`ve just installed an LG, GSA-4163B multi drive and need some info regarding burning.

I intend to use DVD Decripter (when I`ve worked out how to) and my question is : can I use Nero Express to burn DVD`s or will I need the full Nero Burning ROM program ?

Be grateful for your advice.

bigtimefred :)

If you can try and download a utiliy called DVD Shrink.
This will allow you to rip/reduce the size and burn to a blank DVD.
Shrink utilises Nero as part of the copying/backup procedure and as far as I can see is as simple and user friendly as any utility could be.
I have backed up most of my prize DVD`s using this and with the arrival of Dual layer media it will mean the backup, if DL media is used, will be a full and complete replica of the source with no loss in sound/video quality.

Indeed,DVD Decrypter does not shrink at all.
But I found that the latest version of Shrink would not automatically ask for the blank to burn with Nero. You have to use Nero separately.
So I went back to an earlier version of Shrink that works like it always did.

TBH it is a wee while since I used Shrink but I am glad you mentioned the wee problem. Probably use an earlier version myself. No point in coming back to the PC after a while and then finding you still have to tell Shrink to write the files.

Shrink 3.2
No problems with burning from it here.
You do need Nero installed though.
And enabled in Preferences - File I/O
