opinions please - best widescreen for around 200 notes?
Looking to get a widescreen next payday and I reckon I`ve got around £200 to blow.
Looking for 28 inch (no more, no less) with a good to very good picture quality. I`ll only be using it for TV, DVD and PS2, with freeview eventually. Speaker power not a must, as the DVD and PS2 have their own amp.
All opinions gratefully recieved, scribbled down on a post-it note and perused come next tuesday.
(retail outlet details also required, if ya got `em)

Don`t know what they are like but valuetech have a ( Open boxed as new 6 month Warranty ) 28 inch flat screen Hitachi for under £200 delivered -

Or Makro are selling a 28 Bush ( Not a shrub, before someone says they can get a 28 inch bush from their garden centre for £10 ) with freeview for £149.99 + vat

That Hitachi looks like a bargain.
My first widescreen was a Hitachi and it`s still doing a job at my mother`s.
I`d certainly be more inclined to give it houseroom than a Bush/Beko/Naiko/Schneider supermarket job.
It`s not just brand snobbery either.
I`ve seen the mess my brother`s Beko made when it,literally,went `bang`. :/

Don`t know if they are still around, but Sainsbury`s Lodos 28" at £159 is/was an absolute steal. It`s exactly the same as an Hitachi model that was selling last summer or almost double the price

Ooh! sounds ideal. Thanks guys, still got a few days to payday tho (should be getting a child first)

I was in Makro today and they had a decent looking JVC for £200 or a Sony Wega for £250, VAT to be added to both prices , not sure if they are nationwide deals but might be worth a look.
I also saw the Bush I mentioned above and it looked cheap .

There`s one advertised today in a Woolies half price sale - £170 instead of £340. The make is Crown - no idea of pic quality. FWIW I`d probably go for the JVC(£200 + vat) if it were available. Maybe someone else can give an opinion on Crown TVs.

well, popped in and spotted the crown. wasn`t advertised as half price.
Didn`t get paid as much as I`d hoped, but hoping to persuade the new mum to go halves on thursday (when she gets paid)
If not the Woolie`s crown, how about the tesco Bush? They`re always on display and seem to have a prettey decent picture. My sister also has the Asda pacific. Anyone had good/bad exp. with these models?
