Turning off pesky interactive dots on Sky

Is there a way permanently to turn off those really annoying interactive buttons that pop up on the right top of the screen when watching Sky?

i`ve seen a dongle on ebay that gets rid of it, but i think it kills the entire "interactive" signal, i`ll have a dig & report back.

EDIT= can`t find it now :( maybe it was a con/didne work, i have however found this, hopefully it may help. http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php?p=1611570#post1611570
i`ll also keep looking for a more permanent solution.

To get rid of them until the channel is changed (i.e. they don`t return after a set period or adverts), press the red button and the immeditely hold BACK UP. This should get rid of it. Doesn`t work on all channels, works on most.

Doesn`t bother me, I`m a jammy bugger and have Sky+, rewind the channel no more than half a second but as its not live it gets rid of the dot!

It`s a pleasure too that they don`t appear on recorded programs either.
I can remember a time when that little flicky thing in the corner of the screen on ITV when an advert was looming was annoying enough (it`s probably still there, but I don`t have an analogue ariel) but channel logo`s and/or interactive red dots are a royal pain in the hind parts.

Live a life you love, use a god you trust, and don`t take it all too seriously

the only time I`ve noticed that fickering thing is on the F1 on ITV1. Saying that I raely watch the channel so it may be on more things than I think.

There was supposed to be a software update a few days ago that would allow you to permanently switch off the red dot. But it didn`t happen!! Hopefully we will get this soon, total pain in the **** that red dot

Really doubt that Sky would make something available that killed off a lucrative part of their service. The people who put up the interactive services would be extremely unhappy if they did.

Talking of Sky (and other satellite channels), why do most of their channels still have the channel logo in the corner - surely now everyone`s gone digital-satellite, there is no need for them (eg. the channel name/info always comes up on screen when you change channel)!?

I watched `Cast away` on ( I think ) BBC3 the other night.
All the way through it there was white text in the top left hand corner advertising the following programme.
Nothing would make it go away.
All these lovely widescreen shots of open ocean etc.,spoiled by some poxy text.
Infuriating. >:(

It`s not killing it off completely but the software update allegedly contains a new setting that you can set the dot to turn off after `x` seconds
