My mate is getting a new replacement machine from Comet tonight after kicking up a stink about Brands offering him a recon replacement for his brand new knackered LG3200. They do not have any more LG`s, and he`s a bit disgusted with them anyway. Comet have offered either of the above as replacements. Any comments as to which is better ? He`s not worried about hackability or macrovision disablement. He just wants no nonsense set up and useability on a bog standard widescreen telly without surround speakers. Cheers for some quick advice before we head into Comet.

I had the LG once but returned it for the 511 which far superior. Unsure of the JVC...

quite the opposite with me - i had a skipsung, oops i mean samsung 511 for two days(two days too long) which i took back and had an lg 3200 instead , much better imo and i`ve had a few players. p.s. c.m.t are a bunch of tossers!

Personally I would go for the JVC. It can be chipped for region free, which by the way will play RCE discs, and fully Macrovision disabled. Alternatively you could try getting in touch with LG, I am sure they would like to know about any Retailer that is treating there customers this way. I understand that LG have a policy whereby they themselves will replace any faulty player, deliver to your door and collect the faulty unit.
