Anyone else put labels on their DVDR`s?

straightjacket (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 9th January 2005, 21:36

I got my first DVD recorder last year (the Mico R311) and have also recently got a DVD burner for my PC.

I`ve been burning lots of discs but have been having major playback problems on various players, I tried using different discs to no avail, no matter what make of disc I used they still paused, skipped, pixelated and sometimes even crashed altogether or wouldn`t even play in the first place!

I`d just about reached the end of my tether when I found this.

and they`re absolutely right!
all the problems I`ve been having have been because of the f*cking labels I`ve been putting on my discs!!!

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

never Ever use sticky ladels on dvd-r`s of any type, they will allways fail, and usually within about 6 months from the time they where burned.

i recomend getting a printer that can print to the actual disc, they are only around £65 now :)

Always wondered what was the point in sticking labels on discs anyway - it`s not like you admire your printers work is it!

Or, maybe you have one of those new transparent dvd players so you can watch the disc spinning round! :D

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

I boughtone of these because

Unicorn keeps nicking my permy marker.
My handwriting sucks.
Wanted to transfer my video tapes to DVD & have a bmp image of the main title with text of the disc details.

Use White Spirit to get the labels off your discs (and make a backup just in case).

You can use the keyboard or the PC via USB lead. Results are quite good.

Hi, I read your reply to the sticker problem and have previously heard the same, so I`m sure that is correct.
Does writing on the disc, either silver or coloured, make any difference to quality or playing problems. The pens I have are those CD pens and those steadliner permanent felt tips !
Thanks,

Brisey. :/
