All the settings, menus, etc. have changed to Russian on my new player.
How does one go about resetting everything to their original English format?

Managed to sort out.

Unplugged from mains for an hour or two and it seems to have corrected the problem....yahooo :-)

Thanks, I tried switching it off at the mains - but after 24 hours it still shows Russian!

Any other ideas?

I was going to return it to WHS if it hadnt sorted itself out.

Suggest you do this.
