Page 1 of Odd DVD player problem (Yamada DVX 6100)

I`ve got a Yamada DVD player in my collection, and as I`m between homes the other two players are packed and this is being used as my main one because it`ll play my divx files. Anyhoo, when I first got it it acted like my other players, it would resume dvds from where I left off. It would say "Press Play to resume playback or Menu to reload" It doesn`t do that anymore, it just automatically loads the disc and starts from the main menu, which is annoying to say the least. I`ve tried restoring it to factory settings etc., but can`t get this function back. Anyone got any ideas or had a similar problem?
