Cartridges for Panasonic ram disks

The Rebel (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 25th November 2004, 15:19

I have got got my hands on a few Ram disks without the caddy and I can not be fussed to load them each time. Being lazy and just wanting to pop the lot in the player I would like to know does any one know of a supplier of blank caddies?
Thanks

You`ve lost me there mate.. :/
You thinking that the cartridges allow loading of umpteen RAM discs at once ?
Nooooo...
You can only load one RAM disc at a time, cartridge or not.
I also can`t see you being able to buy cartridges on their own.
I`ve never seen that anyway.
They are are sealed unit with a wee `door` that opens as the machine takes it in.

Hi once again bowfer. A mate of mine on my recomendation bought a Panny E55 and it came with a about ten blank ram disks which he has given to me. They appear to be just shiney gold disks minus the caddy (not the usual -r type). I am assuming that these just slip into an opened caddy. there is a warning against against scratches, finger prints etc, there is no printing on them. Or have I picked up the wrong end of the stick again?

You don`t have to put these into cartridges first.
Just slot them in the E55`s tray like you would any old DVD
They are surprisingly tough.
I use non-cartridge RAM discs all the time
Never had a problem and I can assure you I don`t exactly look after them !
They are left lying around all the time.
A quick rub on the sleeve and off we go !

Cheers Bowfer, you learn something new every day. I really was going up the wrong path. I`m wondering why they have caddies in the first place.
Cheers again

I`ve no doubt RAM discs in cartridges will last longer due to the greater protection.
However,like I said,I ain`t never had a problem not no way never no I haven`t.

In fact, the wee one prefers to play with the one`s in cartridges. :(
She likes the springy wee `door` on them... :/

Does anyone know if the Datasafe ones from svp in the caddy can be removed so I can pop them in my pc, as I cannot see how they can be opened without breaking them?

Speaking about kids and the E50/E55 range, the childlock facility on the machines is superb and so easy to use.
Top marks to Panny for that.
