RE: Nectar estores - get nectar points (effective discount) at online retailers

At several sites there were triple Nectar points in early December............managed to get 6 points per £ at Amazon at the time...............BUT points only awarded on multiple purchases before VAT is applied ..........seem to get full points awarded on single purchases though.

RE: If a TV has integrated Freeview can I record from it?

If the TV can output its signal from one of its scarts then yes.......-most TV`s will allow this.
I think all integrated TV`s have an analogue tuner too.

RE: Free calls with BT communicator

Current offer is FREE calls using BT Communicator to Australia until end September

http://www.bt.com/btcommunicator/international/

RE: Help Needed with Freeview SurroundSound Setup

Indeed the only surround sound you`ll get from Freeview is ProLogic 1 or 2 -ie from the original stereo source. There is no 5.1 feed as yet............will be soon on satelite though.

RE: durabrand dvd recorder

RE: durabrand dvd recorder

It`s not a rebadged Cyberhome CH-DVR1600 is it?

http://www.actronelectronics.com/detail.asp?product_id=47

This is also available in ASDA at £89.97
In the US Walmart rebadge the same recorder to sell as the iLO DVR05

RE: Dvd recorder with divx play back at under £100

4Kus no longer stocked by ASDA -maybe some residual stock in some stores.

Walmart`s own iLO brand recorders in US- are now made by Cyberhome- previously were OEM LiteON units....... .hence 4Kus OEM LiteOn units in UK ASDA being discontinued.

ASDA also stock their Dual DRW1at £99.94-has RGB input/recording/standby loopthrough -this is neither a LiteOn or Cyberhome -maybe manufactured by SEG?

RE: Dvd recorder with divx play back at under £100

Cyberhome CH-DVR1600 now reduced to £89.97 in ASDA

People following this thread should be aware that the models in Europe and the US are numbered differently

MU/ZU in US for Mediatek chipset/Zoran chipset
ME/ZE in Europe for Mediatek/Zoran

Dual DRW1 +RW recorder £99.94 at ASDA

Anyone on this forum have any experience with this recorder?

Seems a good buy as it has RGB input scart and standby loopthrough -ideal for DVB boxes

RE: Free calls with BT communicator

All calls are routed through BT so I doubt that prefix codes work........

As for headsets...I didn`t enter any codes at sign up .....just used the link in first post above at start of sign up

RE: Free calls with BT communicator

The new beta version of Yahoo messenger has free PC to PC calls ..so it is similar to Skype..BT Communicator is only for calls to phone lines(land/mobiles)...Skype also charges for these calls..on a Paypal system

You need a Yahoo or BT Internet username and have to be at least be paying BT for line rental/Together option 1

After 3 months the BT Comm calls are chargable on your BT phone bill at Together Rates eg 5p for up to hour in evenings etc

RE: Free calls with BT communicator

Yep-cool offer
Signed up-works well on broadband and received the headset after a week

RE: Currys - DVD Recorder - £99

MiCO DVDR311i now back in stock at many Sainsbury`s stores at £99.99

RE: The Mico R311 DVD Recorder – Some FAQ to help you live with it.

MiCO DVDR311i now back in stock at some branches of Sainsbury`s at £99.99

NB This is the I-Link model

RE: back at last.

Looks like there`ll be a HDD version of the DVR-530S soon-the DVR-950S

www.elliondigital.com/eng/product01.html

Also it seems most new Ellion DVD Recorders are now able to read DivX files although this is still not written in the specs!?

RE: The Mico R311 DVD Recorder – Some FAQ to help you live with it.

Off topic........
Surprised to see you on here Rassilon so near the New Doctor Who transmission time-surely you should be making that armchair comfy?

RE: ELLION dvr-530s TV tuner

The Tangent is made by Sampo....Ellion make their own machines.
The DVR-530S almost certainly DOES have a NICAM tuner but more importantly has a RGB input scart so you can record from set top box in good quality

Unusually for a recorder it has DivX playback.

The Cambridge Audio 55+RWi is the same as the 53+RW- only with an AV/i-Link input. They only have one scart socket I think
Richer Sounds appear to be discontining the 55.
The DVD57+RWi at £249 has it all -2 RGB scarts etc but costs £249

RE: Selecting a Budget DVD Recorder from Dixons

Hence the phrase"if possible" in the original statement..........

Of course all shop assistants in Comet,PC World and Currys etc are always fully briefed and knowledgable about their products after months and months of thorough training.........

But yes I agree this is likely to be fairly diificult if it isn`t obvious from the specs

RE: Selecting a Budget DVD Recorder from Dixons

Have a go with the LiteON 5002- it should have NICAM,RGB input and Videoplus .......and get that pricematch with Argos at £129.99.
Avoid any left over 5001`s ...these are much older machines.

Get the shop assistant if he/she has a brain to demonstrate the NICAM tuner if possible as this is the only part of the spec I`m unsure of.

Also the box should have a small white label of the side with a manufacturing date on it........get the latest possible machine with the most up to date firmware

RE: Selecting a Budget DVD Recorder from Dixons

I suspect the £149 LiteON 5002 does have a NICAM tuner-it has pretty much the same spec as the 5006 (apart from the "All Write" feature)

PS If you go for one of these.........get them to do a pricematch with your local ARGOS-they`re only £129.99 there!
