Page 1 of using a dvd recorder as a music audio only recorder

is it possible to use my tosh dr1 dvd recorder to record my vinyl records and tapes onto a dvd - rw and then some how rip the audio from that dvd - rw using my pc?, ready to copy to cd?

basically can i use my dvd recorder like a stand alone audio cd recorder?

I want to do the same thing. when I feed audio into the DVD recorder it says no signal,
so I think the answer might be to feed in the audio you want together with any old video signal, then use the resulting disc in a cd player.

the resulting disk would be a dvd, so don`t bother trying it in a cd player ;) what you would need to do is fist make the dvd, with all the track you want, and press stop between each track, leaving as little pause as possible, this should creat "individual" track`s (or chapters) when you Rip the dvd to you`re pc`s hard drive, once ripped you need a program to rip the audio as a wav file (thete are progs that do this but i don`t know there names) tmpg maybe ? then convert to mp3 if you want :) i`ve never done this myself but it "should" work ok :) tho tbh it would be much easier to use easy cd or suchlike and just connect you`re hi-fi up to the microphone socket on the pc and stream it directly in ;)

I can`t quite see the point. If your going to use the PC then use the `Line imput` on the PC & record the Vinyl etc onto the PC in either `WAV` (CD Quality) or MP3. If you want to record them onto DVd you will get around 80 to 90 Cds in MP3 format on one DVD. I have done this with my CD, LP, collection & I take 4 or 5 DVDs on holiday or wherever & can choose from a fantastic selection of music depending on the mood. Some DVD players will recognise it all computers will.

If you wat to go the other route the DVD-RAM is the best as you record the lot at once & divide the tracks easily & quicklt as ONLY RAM CAN DO.

the main point is (i think) that he wants to get his vinyl backed up, hence the direct to pc route would be both faster & more efficient.

dunno about wma, but most of the supermarket cheapies will deffo play mp3 off a dvd`r inc, asda`s pacific, sainsbury`s cello, p&b machines, newer mustec`s, i`m sure there are more, these are just machines i personally own, so i can say for sure that these work, and the pacific machines start from £25, so it ain`t gonna break the bank & they are dead easy to make multi-region :)

Thanks, I wanted to have a DVD Player as a central point in a cheap :) all around the house music system, therefore allowing a LOT of music files onto 1 disc. I can then produce seperate folders of songs for me, wife, daughter, son, etc and we can play them around the house as a jukebox stereo system. 8)

What do you think of this idea as a cheap multi room audio system?

Anyone got any more ideas along these lines (cheap) :D
