LG3200 For only £139.50

Mr G (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 27th March 2001, 00:58

Argos have this for only £139.50. It is not in their current catalogue as it is a `subsitute` for the ALBA 103 and shares the same catalogue number. Is this DVD player any good or is it cheaper elsewhere?

Its good if all you want is to play DVD`s and not VCD`s, Mp3 etc, try the LG 3000 for that, but I haven`t been disappointed with mine yet.

The 3200 is a superb player, it might not compete with the players of say around the 500 quid mark for that much its a steel, ive got one and it is superb, multi region and RCE capable. The picture is always superb and the sound is amazing, through my DD DTS setup. Ive seen a 500 quid sony and was no more impressed with it than my 3200 (it probably has better features). The only draw back is normal music cds sound pants on it and it dont play CDRs, but hey for the money youll save go and by a hifi cd seperate, thats what i did.
LG3200e all the way

i used to have a LG3200 and i experienced some playback problems with a few discs (namely Aliens where chapters 14-20 were unwatchable due to picture breakup).

I bought a Samsung 511 which in my opinion has a better picture quality than the LG and plays the `problem` discs that i have with no trouble.

Really, how old was your 3200 cause ive never had that happen, it could have been your firmware, anyway youve got an new player.

the problems i had with it started about a week after i bought it. Got a replacement from the shop i bought it from (Big W), but had exactly the same problem, so i got a refund.

It was firmware 1.3

I`m currently waiting for a replacement player from LG which should have either 1.4 or 1.5 firmware which should elimate these problems.

Go here and it tells you under menu 10 Firmware display hack http://www.choosefirst.co.uk/

Depending on the version you have denotes if you can hack it to multi region, mine is Version 1.0, one of the first and can`t be hacked. Anyway I try playing the famous Toy Story box set 3rd bonus disk and it wouldn`t have it, so emailed LG and they are going to replace the player (it`s still under warrenty) hopefully this will have the latest firmware and be hackable to multi region.
