Mini DV Tape to VHS

duncsy (Competent) posted this on Friday, 9th July 2004, 10:56

A mate of mine told me that there is a vhs case in which you can place your mini camcorder tape into that enables you to watch what you have recorderd though your vhs player without having to record onto vhs.

I have searched most of the sites I know which would stock such an item but have come up with nothing.

Is my mate taking the p*** or is there such a device. If so does anyone know where I may find one.

Many thanks
Duncsy

i think your mate may be getting confused with the camcorders that take the small vhs tapes (vhs-c) they were then fitted into what looked like a standard vhs tape which was put into your video and played like a normal vhs tape.to the best of my knowledge there is no device that will take mini dv tapes like your mate says.best to record onto vhs anyway and keep original camcorder tape or just playback through tv to see what you have recorded.argos sell one of these adaptors,it is called a motorised adaptor but it only works with vhs-c cassettes ,not any other type of camcorder cassette.

No, there is not.

the item your friend refers to is what is being referred to above, a VHS-C to VHS adapter.
VHS-C tapes are in fact standard VHS tape, just in a compact case and 30 to 45 minutes long!
(Also SVHS, but that needs an SVHS capable VCR to play back)

There is no adapter capable of changing a Mini DV tape into VHS other than recording it over from the camera etc.
