Anyone who has a N T L digi set up
How do you find the picture & sound quality ??
Ive had one of these digi boxes for quite a time, and as well as the many times
that the picture & sound are out of sync, I`m not all that impressed with the picture & sound quality.
Both appear to be brighter & clearer from the usual outdoor ariel.
I would be interested in other opinions
Cheers Gary
Yeah, it does seem to go out of sync quite regularly. If you switch the box off at the wall & reboot it seems to do the trick.

my biggest gripe is that it hasn`t got RGB only S-video or a composite feed

I have had NTL digital for 4 or 5 yeras.
Mine has RGB output.
I thought that all the Pace DI series digital STBs had RGB.
I haven`t had sync problems either - I wonder if this varies with one`s local area and infrastructure.

Ours also has RGB output. We`ve had ours ever since they rolled digital out in Derby (about 3 years??). Do you have a different box I wonder?

I would still be interested to know what you guys
think of the picture & sound quality from the NTL service.

I live in Northants and have had NTL Digital for 2 years. The picture and sound have been fine all that time. The only gripe I have is that the programme guide hardly ever works. It just says `no programme information` all the time. I agree that rebooting might do the trick with the sync problem.

i reboot mine every morning!
Imine is also used for broadband internet but I`d find sometimes I`d get home from work, and internet acces had stopped working, so now each morning, I unplug it, put kettle on, plug it back in, and it doesn`t seem to lose picture or internet connection for no reason!
(incidently loss of picture and loss of internet seem totally unrelated, i.e. sometimes they both go, sometimes one or the other)
I have found picture quality differs greatly day to day! When 1st installed I was amazed how good it was, but the other day it didn`t look right, and was no better than VCD quality, i.e. II could see large blocks where compression was happening!
As for the TV guide in it. I found you have to be patient. It will say "not available" but if I wait, I`ll see 1 channels progams appear, then the next. Typically the channel i want will be the last to appear ;)
I`m in Southampton

I am in Manchester and have no problems with the sound/picture, though there have been a couple of occasions when its been out of sync this has been on a specific channel. I do often have problems with the tv guide though, same as pretty much every one else it seems, though I will now try rebooting it every morning, as Al does, and see what difference that makes. Oh, and its RGB.
I seem to be the only one with the RGB problem. I`ve had digital again for about 5 years and this is my second box. I`ve spoken to their unhelpful technical support line a number of times and each time they direct me to the menu where they say you can either choose RGB or composite feed and each time I tell them mine has two option but it`s only S-video or composite, no sign of RGB. They seem puzzled every time but cannot offer a solution.
Maybe I should insist on a box change, it is getting on a bit. Thankfully my broadband goes through a separate cable modem, couldn`t put up with rebooting it every morning.
