JVC DR-M1 DVD Recorder

Dwane (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 30th March 2004, 11:40

I have recently bought a JVC DR-M1. Could anyone else who has one please tell me if :-

1/ Recorded programmes automatically create their own program names?, as is the case with the Panasonic recorders.
2/ Does the Just Clock feature work? I have a VCR connected totthe same system which automatically updates the time - so its not PDC signal problems.
3/ Does the Save power function work?

Otherwise - a great machine!

Dwane, I agree with you, this ia a great machine, had mine since christmas and I am very pleased with it. To answer your questions (1 & 2 at least)

1. No, but you have the facility to add your own titles.
2. I think so, if you read the instruction book, it gives examples of a number of situations when the clock will not adjust it self automatically, strange but true.
3. No idea.

Dwane, see page 105 under Notes:
Just clock is not effective when:
The units power is on
The unit is in timer mode
A difference of more than 3 minutes
In power save mode

The list goes on and on and on.....I don`t understand why it cannot undate under these conditions.

PS. I sit albout 20` away from my TV, therefore I have never heard the fan.

Anyone had a problem with this unit? If I leave mine on standby, after about 19 minutes it shuts itself down (no lights, display) so that the only way to wake it up is by power cycling on the mains plug. All the front display buttons and remote control do nothing.

I`ve just tried JVC tech support and they seem to think it is a fault. It does seem a bit strange as it works flawlessly apart from having to pull the plug every time I want to use it.

I`ve just set the camcorder on it to record this as it isn`t going to be easy to demonstrate this problem in the shop.

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me where I can find a multi region fix for the DR M1 Recorder to enable me to play some of my DVDs I bought in the USA. I am stuck with playing region 2 at the moment :(

Hi,

SORRY, I have no answer for you but I am also looking for a region-hack!
So, if you get any information, please let me know.

I wonder if you can help. I`ve just bought a DR-M1. Actually, no I bought it a month ago but it`s just come back from repair! Anyway, it`s missing the satellite link cable. Doubtless you don`t use yours if you have Sky+, but I have regular Sky. Could you look at the plug on this link and tell me if it is a stereo or mono 3.5mm jack plug? Even more of a cheek to ask, could you maybe take a photo of what`s inside the sender (if it comes apart). I want to make my own because a replacement from JVC is £28. Or fancy selling yours, or swap for some DVD-RAMs? No, I didn`t think so!

Any help at all on this component most appreciated.

Regards,

Colin
