Karaoke Newbie, help please. DVD Player and PS2 questions for you experts out there.
I have bought a cheap DVD player, which has two Mic inputs, vol and echo controls on the front. Aria DVD2004 retail version.
I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that this would be a good buy for karaoke (main reason) and for kids DVD`s (multi region, etc).
As I am new to karaoke, Aria advised (email) that CD+G disc`s are not compatible with the 2004 model.
Are there DVD`s available which are karaoke format? Pictures, words, etc?
Or VCD`s or any other formats?
Please advise, as I need to obtain some disc`s and a couple of microphones prior to Xmas, assuming there is a format of karaoke disc that I can use.
All you pop idol hopefuls out there, please advise, or I will either disappoint the little one or have to spend out more dosh on a karaoke machine :( . I have also heard somewhere, that PS2 can play Karaoke disc`s with an adaptor to take the Mic`s, etc any advice on this also?
RE: Karaoke Newbie, help please. DVD Player and PS2 questions for you experts out there.
There are three widely available formats - CD-G (regular CDs, but with graphics that can be displayed on your TV), VCDs (Video CDs) and DVDs.
Most DVD players can play VCDs so its worth checking out your machine.
VCDs are very popular in the far-east, as is karaoke of course, and so there is plently of VCD software available out there compared to that on DVD.
Some sites I`ve used in the past to buy Karaoke VCDs and CD-Gs include:
allVCD
Cool VCD
VCDGallery
and
KaraokeManiac
You can also get karaoke stuff very cheaply on ebay.

You can get karaoke dvd`s from w h smiths but they are expensive , Or you can do has i did and and get then from www.bid-up.tv And they are good value too, I put a bid of £28 in and had 10 differant karaoke dvd`s which was delivered within 7 days , The 10 dvd`s on bid up are jailhouse rock , 70s, 60s, pop idol, 50s,80s, superstars, scotish, irish and nursery rhyme , The postage was £6.95 on top of the £28 so they worked out at £3-50 each , I saw the same dvd`s in ethel austins priced up at £7-99 each , I have tried them and they are very good , So if you want the same ones go to the bid up site and have a browse around wot they are auctioning for tomorrow , They normally have them dvd`s up every other day for auction.
hope this helps
