Resonance DVD 1045

mensa (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 11th November 2003, 18:00

Woolworths in my neck of the woods are offering the following deal:
dvd`s;
get shorty...when harry met sally...man in the iron mask...four weddings and a funeral...and some James bond film, along with these films they are chucking in a dvd player.
wait for it....a "Resonance DVD 1045".
I`m no snob, and definately not in the habit of spending out any more cash than i have to,
but what on earth is this DVD player.
I can`t find any info on it online and wouldn`t mind buying the package as a gift for my daughter whos about to leave for University.
anyone help me out on the playability of the machine. i.e can it do DVDr`s etc?
cheers Rich

We`ve just got the Resonance 1045 that you`re asking about,(because of the offer :) ) and about the only thing that I cant get it to play is other regions- R2 only, untill someone comes up with a hack, but as this player is probably a clone, it shouldn`t be too long before this gets sorted (I hope ;) ).
My advice is go get one now, it`s worth it for the films alone (they`re "proper ones, not the double feature discs often found with budget player offers), but be quick as I can`t see them staying on the shelf long :D
By the way, the jpeg playback and zoom etc features are v.smooth 8)

According to the info in the manual, yes, it will play VCD/SVCD`s, but I haven`t tried to play the VCD`s i`ve got yet.
Will post an update when I`ve tried it fully
By the way, it`ll play WMA`s as well as MP3`s :)

Please could you tell me if any multi region hacks are available for this player yet?

Chances are, a player this cheap they won`t have put the RC software in. I got my sis the really cheap one from Argos and that hasn`t got macrovision either

how can you find out if a player has RC software? Although cheap the player does seem to have quite good features.
