What to do if TV is not NTSC compatible??

the_godfather (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 3rd February 2001, 16:35

If my TV turns out not to be NTSC compatible is there anything I can do other than buy a new TV. Are there any conversion boxes or anything that might do the trick so I can watch my lovely R1 DVD`s???

Yeah you can buy signal convertors - try any of the shops mention on this site - e.g. http://www.keene.co.uk or http://www.maplin.co.uk

Most players convert NTSC signal to PAL, don`t they?

Yes, but be careful. Some only do PAL60 which you TV may or may not be able to handle. In which case you may need one than will do PAL50. Of the ones that do the NTSC to PAL50 conversion, some make "a right pig`s ear" of the job. So if you can, audition the player first.
