DVD Player with SACD.

sput2001 (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 23rd October 2003, 14:35

Hi folks,

Does anyone have a SACD compatible DVD player they can recommend?

I`m looking for a multi-region player with DTS & 5.1 capability and digital co-axial output, up to £250.

Cheers.

You should be able to pick up a decent Sony from richer Sounds, mine has SACD multichannel, etc and was £189, 9 months ago, I`ve seen them there a lot cheaper since

Hello,

Pioneer DV 656A will do all the things you want. It looks good and is well built. You can get it for under £300 I believe.

Hope this helps.

Neil.

Cheers folks. Supplementary question: How would you hook it up to a surround sound amp/processor (I`ve got the Yamaha DSP E800 in tandem with an Arcam Alpha 9)?

Is 6-channel phono the best way?

Unless the player and amp have I-link the only way to get true SACD/DVD-A is via a 6 channel phono. Not sure if the new HDMI connection will do SACD/DVD-A but as the only product to have HDMI is the new Pioneer plasmas at the moment I am not been much help.

I will shut up.

All the best,
