Have had the above recorder for over a month now and i love it. Any ideas on how to copy dvds onto it? Have a chipped sony with macrovision turned off, but the panny still refuses to copy. Any ideas? Also, when i connect a vcr by scart to the composite inputs on the panny there is no signal. Again, any ideas?
Cheers
Comercial DVD`s are digitally incrypted to stop digital to digital copies. I belive this as one of the reason DVD`s are chreap to buy, can`t be copied to another DVd by joe public.
For backups try www.sonel.com

I have copied some SVCDs from my computer to the Pany E 50 via a S-Video lead & had no problems. I know some people have mentioned a scart that removes both copy protection but as I don`t have one I can`t say where to get it. There is a DVD recorder thread it may be mentioned there.

i can back up dvds ok from my decca as it disables macro and gmcs protection you will need a sonel scart they do the job ok but if you want to back up reg1 stuff you need dvd player which outputs pal60 to pure pal 50 look at www.sonel.com
The KT Vision Smart Scarts remove CGMS and Macro, for perfect digital copies. The Philips dvd recorders record an NTSC signal perfectly with no conversion, and although it does seem a bit fiddly, according to other threads on here,I believe the Panasonic can also record NTSC in a direct recording. No dvd recorder should record a PAL 60 signal. If you have problems you need a PAL 50(100% genuine PAL) output, found on most budget machines.PAL 60 is neither pure NTSC or PAL
Check out www.techtronics.com I am sure they do some sort of enhanced SCART or DVD Backup kit.
