Why do you spend what seems quite a lot of time posting price reductions for the Panny.I suppose you could call it a service but with Richer Sounds offering the Philips for the same price, only the unknowing would go for the Panny. They are amazing prices ,I paid £500 for my DVDR880 only 9 months ago and when all the supermarkets fill up with DVD+R recorders in the Autumn it will probably be the start of a very quick journey to a time when there will be no dvd PLAYERS,only RECORDERS.And it will be displeasing for some to see+R finally bury RAM and -R.Once again the superior format will lose out to market forces.

The Panasonic is head & shoulders above the philips. There is no contest. Panasonic & the RAM system has gained ther vast lead in the WORLD. phellings stop pushing the philips & Sky + everytime someone puts out a thread. You`ve given your (VERY misinformed side) I & others have given there`s. If you think an unreliable make like philips with an inferior system will win over PANASONIC, TOSHIBA JVC & others then you truly live in Cloud Cuckoo land.
DVD-Ram is the way to go
DVD+ is the new DODO

The lowest priced DVD-RAM discs in the UK are priced £2.98 from
http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk for DVD-RAM discs in a catridge the cheapest is £5.99 at http://www.cdr-media.co.uk with low delivery priced. DVD-R discs cost less than £1 at various websites.
the E50 comes with 1 free disc.
I post prices of the Panasonic DMR-E50 because
1. It`s fantastic value at less than £300(that`s £154 less than high
street prices)
2. Panasonic DVD-RAM/DVD-R recorders are the world`s best
selling home DVD-Recorders(60% USA Market share)
3. Reliability of these recorders is excellent, but Philips DVD +RW
recorders have huge reliability problems(check DVD+RW
forums)
4. DVD-RAM recorders are the only ones that can record &
playback simultaneously on the same disc.
5. The editing flexibility(similar to a hard disc) puts all other formats
to shame.
6. Can also record on cheap DVD-R discs which playback on 99%
of all DVD players.
7. Quick view feature means you can view DVD-RAM recordings
at 1.3 times normal speed. You can watch an hour long
recording in around 45 minutes!!!
