The main requirements for my next player are :-

PICTURE QUALITY = Detailed with No Pixellation
MULTI REGION = A must
MACRO OFF = Ideally remote activated, but if chip required thats okay.
MP3 = Needed

So other than Manhattan, Scan, Logix etc that I am aware of what can you recommend :-
LG 3350 ? PIONEER 535 ? or ? Please advise, ideally from experience.

Thank you.

Just seen this at the UNOFFICIAL Mico Message Board:

Have just taken delivery of Mico 980 and am more than pleased with performance and looks. It is the "Bees Knees" as far as I am concerned. All that has been said by Carrot Cruncher about this machine is correct. Friends who had Sony £500 + and other expensive machines laughed when I told them what I was getting but they sure are green with envy now. They have seen the quality of output and all the features that they do not have. All this on a machine £187.00 delivered.( I do not work for them by the way).
Also a special mention must go to www.unbeatable.co.uk from whom I ordered it via their website. Ordered Thurs night late and delivered Mon 10.0.am. I would reccomend them for any purchases.

I couldnt have put it better!

Grain? Where? I did once think I saw a few quark-sized particles on one still image but that may have been dust on the TV screen!
Poor build quality? Mines built like a tank. And as for the champaign metal fascia. I could swear that was real gold. I`m not kidding.
Solid througout - No plastic in sight!
CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT THE s***ACHI?
Lockups? - No lockups as such. Just need to toggle the power button if you want to play a DVD directly after listening to an MP3 disc or it wont be recognised.
As you have to get up to swap discs anyway, I dont find this annoying.
I rarely do both formats in an evening anyway.

BTW Briley is having problems with his MiCO taking control of his TV and not allowing him to watch TV channels at the same time.
I dont have this problem with my Sony TV but poor old Briley had a weak moment and bought an Hitachi TV. I`ve advised him to cut the SCARTs control pin (#8) to remedy this.
Do you have any Hitachi TV troubleshooting tips? Hes thinking about upgrading to an Alba.

Seriously though is there a sub-£200 player you would recommend that is multi-region and plays MP3s?

I`d have to agree!

The MICO has many features and overall I`d say it`s a good player and all but the thing that put me off was the looks and crappy remote control and the general build quality. Also I heard that discs get stuck but I dont know if thats true or not. The picture and sound seemed fine to me but that was the first player I saw so I don`t know how good they`d look now after owning an AWIA!

I have had no problems with mine eating DVD`s

"I would pick the LG3350 or Aiwa over the Mico any day!"

He said Macro Disabled! Both LG/Aiwa need a chip. Also the LG won`t play VCD.

I think the build quality of the Mico is very good and I like the colour.

Picture and sound are excellent on my 25" Hitachi TV even without RGB/S-Video.

Just don`t get a Hitachi 505 as it is s***! The New 705? uses the same chip as the Mico!
