Problems with Aiwa

Hi

Just got on the `Net (new computer for Xmas!) and found this useful-looking forum.

I notice that a lot of you seem to think highly of the Aiwa 370.
I`m quite surprised because I have just returned my SECOND Aiwa back to Comet for a refund. The first one suffered from horizontal colour banding across the screen and this second one wouldn`t play MP3 discs. The young lad in Comet said that they had got quite a few back just after Xmas with odd problems and so gave me a refund instead of another machine. I think they are made in China (my Aiwa mini-HIFI is).
I`m now figuring out what to replace it with.

Cheers.

Surprised to hear of your returns, think the guy in Comet is giving you duff info, `cause my local Comet manager has told me he has had NO returns whatsoever, and hasn`t heard of any!
And they are made in Korea..they are LG 3350`s cut down slightly, not actually made by Aiwa :o)

Believe it or not, I`d say replace it with another Aiwa, and I`m sure a few others here would too!!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!

I can`t speak for the first problem you had with the Aiwa, but if the second player couldn`t play MP 3`s, it`s not definetly a faulty one.

The MP3 discs that u burn have to compile to certain standards.
Of course now u can`t try another one because u don`t have it anymore.
A shame...

But mine works like a charm, so no complaints here :)

"Could Bernie be Nelly spelt differentley?".

No, Bernie because my first name is Bernard (makes sense doesn`t it).

As to the problem playing MP3`s - well, the first player played the MP3 disc OK, but the second one wouldn`t. So I think it was the player and not the disc that was faulty.

Personally I see it as bad luck...
Too bad, if only u could see and hear what this player can do.

ACtually at DVD TImes there is a poster who works for Upgrade heaven called Justin (He swears by the Tosh 100, probably because he has got lots of them:P)

Anyway, he says his store has had lots of AIWA`s returned!

Maybe a QC problem with the AIWA Jimbo!

Just to add fuel to the Comet salesperson are tossers -- i went to 3 Comet shops and each one gave me the same speech that the Tosh was the one to buy but when i phoned other TV/audio retails i was told by a staff that the Aiwa is a great machine -- Comet plug the Tosh probably due to get more commision

Or possibly some dodgy "grey importing"

Seiously, I`ve hacked mine silly, I`ve stripped it to components FOUR times..I`ve banged it..kicked it..dropped it ..swore at it...and desoldered and resoldered umpteen pins in it... and it STILL plays like new!!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!
