Anyone know of a good home cinema kit for under £350
I`m after a home cinema kit with at least a dolby digital decoder
Its for my bedroom so it doesn`t have to be too powerful but I still want good sound quality. My budget is £350.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
cheers

Hi,
There is a Grundig, I saw one in my local Dixons but the sound quality (after hearing Men In Black by Will Smith on it) is bad. I compared it to a big Sony (you can see how much i take note of model numbers!) which sounded much better but costs an extra £150-£200.
HOWEVER from what i saw the players graphics were really good. It comes with a subwoofer, and 4 extra speakers as well as an AMP. Not a bad price really but i will tr to find a model number for you.
Have a good New Year

The model is a GDV-520 and is currently at £399 from Dixons. I tried the Grundig WWW site and there is no info on this. From what I can remember it is a full hi fi system offering Dolby Digital output, with a DVD player, tape deck and radio. The DVD/CD player is a 5 disc changer. It seems pretty good value for money. The only other one I can think of is the Sony one which got 5/5 in Home Cinema Choice but costs about £550.
Question is, can the DVD player be made to read Region 1. Has anyone got one of these ? I`ve tried to find reviews on many www sites but can`t find any. There is a problem with RCE discs apparently on Grundig DVD players, but I was wondering whether the GDV-520 DVD Player was equivalent to one of the Grundig stand alone DVD Players. This would then make it work with the Proline 1000 Hack found on these pages. I wouldn`t mind upgrading my old pro logic hi fi, I did think about getting the Videologic DD kit but then I would still need a hi-fi. This Grundig all in one seems perfect, albeit the speakers look a bit small. Anybody found out anything new about this ?

Yep, Yamaha HTiB Dolby digital amp and speaker kit.
Good quality amp, good sound, black in colour, built in tuner, not massively powered (around 80W per channel) and full speaker kit included.
Price? £349.99
