ITS TRUE! i have a 10 yr old + jvc tv definately not ntsc (tried videos etc.the picture -black & white rolls ok). Igot a region 1 dvd from canada put it in my ps2( with action replay converter to reg 1 ) just to see .....Nothing as expected ! THEN!!! I TRIED IT IN MY MEDION 4358 -( from toys r us) IT PLAYED PERFECTLY - IN FULL COLOUR ! ON MY OLD TV. ???? unbelievable. it only cost £89 what is going on ? it is connected obviously by rgb scart. but so was the ps2 . Is this a wonder machine or what ? anyone tell me why i can play region 1 and 2 through my non ntsc tv in perfect colour with no problem at all cos i am still amazed?

I daresay the machine outputs NTSC as PAL60 which a lot of sets that do not do NTSC can handle.

EH? well why r so many people having so many problems on so many more expensive dvd players? and does this not make this machine buy of the year? i think they r £79 now

It`s PAL-50 rather than PAL-60. Most players can output NTSC DVDs as PAL-60, but very few will do PAL-50 conversion for compatibility with ancient TVs, so it`s a bit of a selling point.

The Pacific 1002 also does this as well as play MP3`s, VCD`s, SVCD`s... it also has an optical out, coaxal, Scart, two video outs, S-video AND Can be made completely region free with the easiest of hacks !!!

Are you sure it plays region 1 in colour on a NONE ntsc tv?? p.s. this also plays all those things and has the connections u mention it just looks nicer :-)

LOL Yes I am sure it plays them on a non NTSC TV... we have two in the house as well as two NTSC televisions one of which is a Multi system that plays SECAM too. And I have tested them all... call me anal if you like :p
Yeah I will admit that the Pacific is an ugly bugger but I am not bothered as I have a Sony player for asthetics in the lounge, and I use the Pacific to play multiregion DVD`s, SVCD`s and watch films in the bedroom!
