i have had 2 of these - 1st from rgb - this one switched off ALL POWER 4 TIMES! i contacted philips "its a fault, it shouldn`t do that" says the guy on the phone(surprise) It goes back. I get another from empire (cheaper see) this one works ( except for recording very dodgy colours a couple of times) for 1 week THEN all power lost AGAIN !!!! I believe these machines have major problems. be very very carefull! needless to say i am waiting to see what happens in the dvd rec. world for a while........

I have had my Philips 880 since just after Xmas, and have had *absolutely* no trouble with recording or playback on +RW and playback of pre-recorded DVD films. I haven`t yet used any +R discs, as I haven`t wanted to keep anything I`ve recorded yet. The only fly in the ointment is the fact that my Minato DVD-G1 refuses to acknowledge that a +RW disc has been inserted, even if the bit-setting routine has been followed. However, they play perfectly on my Sony Vaio laptop!

I pray that you never do have any problems.

But a recent poll on http://dvdplusrw.org has shown a 41% fault rating on these Phillips machines!

Mine screwed up after 4 weeks and is still in for repair. 3 weeks and counting.
