Speaker Stands / Brackets for Philips Pixel Plus TV`s

GJD (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 14th January 2003, 09:18

Can anyone recommend some rear speaker stands (high or low) or wall brackets for the above sets, preferably ones that hold the speakers secure (to stop my Little `Un taking a swipe at them!)?

I seem to remember reading some Folks used some from Ikea a while back but there`s not a branch near me. Any other recommendations. I think the mains cable may be too short to wall mount them in my room, can this be easily extended?

Try beyondhifi.com
I recently bought floor standing rear speaker stands from their B-Tech range. They do wall mounts as well, but I don`t like cables up a wall.
Budget prices but cracking quality. And half the price of Argos etc.
I was £23.50 for silver rear speaker stands which are adjustable for height and come with a selection of speaker mounting options. They come in black and chrome as well as Silver.
I used brackets that screw direct into the rear of my speakers making them nice and secure from 3 year old hands. The cables run up inside the stand as well, also making them as much toddler proof as can be done.
Extending speaker cable is easy enough.I presume you mean speaker cable rather than Mains cable !!
Go to any B+Q, buy some speaker cable off the roll and buy some cable joining `things` as well. They`re beside one another in the aisle.

Many thanks for that Bowf, I`ll check them out. Do you have a Pixel Plus set too, as I was worried the speaker with the amp in it would be too heavy for floor mounted stands to support the weight without being a bit top heavy/wobbly?

For me to wall mount the speakers at a decent height I would need to extend the mains cable somehow (the speaker cable is just about long enough) but I don`t think this can be easily done (without a messy extension lead sat on my windowsill..not very wife or toddler friendly!). Looks like floorstanders will be the best option..

Thanks Frankie

I`m not sure how my speakers will attach to these stands (or the ones Bowf recommends) as on the back they seem to just have a hole to hook ont a wall-mounted screw (as opposed to a threaded hole to screw them onto a stand).

Has anyone successfully managed to attach the Philips rear speakers to these type of stands?

A question not a reply.

I`m thinking of getting a Pixel Plus set,how have you found your`s to be?

is it a 32" or 36" you have?

I would appreciate your opinion.

The B-Tech stands have umpteen mounting options
In fact I would practically guarantee you would find a solid mounting option in the myriad of brackets supplied with the stands.
They are very comprehensive.
If all else failed they have a flat plate option for speakers just to stand on.In the unlikely event you had to use these ,instead of a screw-on bracket, you could always buy what I consider a god-send in my house.Little sticky velcro pads. I have everything from lamps to ornaments stuck down with these to prevent dame by wee prying hands.
They are easily prised apart by adult hands, but kiddees usually give up pretty quick.
Hope this helps

Thanks Bowf, I`ll get some ordered up.

Evolution..(is that as in Mitsubishi Lancer??), I`ve got the 32" Pixel Plus set..very pleased with it, especially with DVD playback. Still glad I went for it over Tosh, Sony etc..
